Scott Capozza, MS, PT

Where do you practice?
Smilow Cancer Hospital/Yale New Haven Health

Where did you go to PT/PTA school?
Ithaca College

What made you want to become a PT or PTA?
My grandfather suffered a stroke when I was in high school. After seeing him work with physical therapists to regain his ability to walk and return to a normal life, I decided that's what I wanted to do.

Why are you an APTA member?
To increase networking possibilities and to have have access to great journals, specifically the Rehabilitation Oncology journal through the Academy of Oncologic Physical Therapy

One thing about you that you'd like members to know? Fun Fact?
I use my 'vacation time' every August to volunteer at Camp Rising Sun, a camp for kids with cancer. Camp Rising Sun offers a free, safe environment for any child affected by cancer to feel like a normal kid. It's the best week of my year.

When you're not working what do you like to do in your free time?
I don't usually have free time as I'm chasing after my three kids, but when I do have some free time I enjoy cycling (I ride in the Closer To Free ride every year)
