May 2018: Michael Srokowski and Thomas O. Kassan

They were nominated as our newest members of the public policy committee and their great contributions with lobby day!

Michael graduated from American International College-DPT and Sacred Heart University-Residency/OCS.

What made you want to become a PT or PTA?
My brother has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, I used to go with him to his PT appointments when I was younger, and it would make him so happy to just have a chance to move. Ever since then, I've always wanted to be a Physical Therapist.

Why are you an APTA member?
Being a member of the APTA supports our profession, and also allows me to support the legislative goals that will benefit the profession. These goals will enable our patients to get better faster, while creating a more efficient healthcare system. I also have an opportunity to read current literature to maintain our evidence based practice treatment approaches.

Fun Fact about you?
I am a competitive weight lifter and I love playing guitar!

Thomas graduated from University of Connecticut.

What made you want to become a PT or PTA?
I want to help people learn more about their bodies so that they can become independent in achieving their goals, whether that's climbing a mountain, lifting their child, or shoveling the driveway.

Why are you an APTA member?
To be an advocate for our profession and advance the field.

Fun Fact about you?
I have been inside a glacier.

When you're not working what do you like to do in your free time?
Skiing, Traveling, and Family

Both Tom and Michael work for Connecticut Physical Therapy Specialists.
