Allie Southam

Anna “Allie” Southam, PT, DPT, MS, Board Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist 

Allie received her DPT at the University of Southern California and is currently working as a neurologic physical therapist for Hartford Healthcare Rehabilitation Network. 

Allie is currently the Communication Chairperson for the APTA CT Neurology SIG 

Why PT?

My love for PT developed after two season ending knee injuries in college. Through my own physical rehabilitation I developed a passion and love for evidence based movement science and helping people regain optimal movement regardless of diagnosis.  I love being a part of someone’s rehabilitation journey and showing my patients the amazing capabilities the brain and body have to change and alter based on experience and training to help them reach their movement goals. 

Why are you in  APTA Member?

Being an APTA Member provides opportunities for leadership, engagement and professional growth. I value the importance of being part of a larger group that advocates for our profession and advances our practice. I think it’s imperative to have access to the latest resources, evidence and best practices to provide optimal care to our patients.   

 

When you're not working what do you like to do in your free time?

I love to travel with my husband and family!
