Laura Simaitis, PT, DPT, EdD(c)

Board Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist

Laura received her DPT degree from Quinnipiac University.

My interest in body movement and athletics led to me choosing a career in physical therapy. As I learned more about the breadth of this profession, I quickly found a passion for working with individuals with neurological health conditions. Beyond celebrating the successes of individuals who have regained function and returned to life outside of therapy, I value the relationships I’ve formed with individuals and families. Being a physical therapist allows me to positively impact others’ lives, extending my reach beyond the individual sitting in front of me.

Why are you an APTA member?

Although not the sole role of the APTA, the association establishes our vision to keep our professional practice moving forward. As a dynamic profession, being a member and having a voice in the APTA is important to shape our profession’s future. Furthermore, the APTA provides valuable, evidence-based education and resources to clinicians and educators. As a physical therapy educator, I value this information to enhance and guide future physical therapists’ education and clinical practice.

When you’re not working what do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy spending time being active outside with my husband and young boys. Our favorite summer vacation spot is Squam Lake in NH.
