Sacroiliac Joint (SIJ) Panel:

What is the role of the SIJ in medicine and rehabilitation? 

There is much debate in the literature regarding the biomechanics and functional role of the SIJ. This presentation will include an interactive discussion on the role of the SIJ in medicine and rehabilitation from an expert panel that includes physical therapists and physicians. Current literature and common clinical questions will be presented to the panel for discussion and the audience will be encouraged to participate.

Joseph Walker, MD

Physiatry, Comprehensive Spine Center and Orthopedics at UConn Health; Assistant Professor Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Neurosurgery at UConn Health

Dr. Walker completed a fellowship in pain medicine at Harvard University. He specializes in the diagnosis and non-operative management of disorders of the neck and back, including epidural steroid and axial spine injections, acupuncture, and electrodiagnostic studies.
