Geriatric SIG: Successful Physical Therapy for People with Dementia- a Practical Approach

This presentation will focus on best practices for working with patients and clients with cognitive impairment.

Objectives:

1. Describe how persons with impaired cognition benefit from physical therapy
2. Recognize behaviors resulting from unmet needs and identify specific ways to mitigate those behaviors
3. List techniques to engage clients through person-centered tasks
4. Use validation methods to help clients with symptoms of cognitive impairment
