Sacred Heart Univ students participate in PT Day of Service

11.20.2017

Sacred Heart University Physical Therapy students volunteered at LifeBridge in Bridgeport, CT on October 14th for PT day of Service. Lifebridge is a social service organization that helps low socioeconomic status community members with everything from finances to clothing donations and healthy food options. They were receiving a donation from the Knights of Columbus and we were there to help them unload the truck and organize all of the toys, clothes and furniture in their donation center. We wanted to give back to our community and help those in need by promoting the Physical Therapy profession. This program runs primarily on volunteers therefore we were able to give the regular volunteers a break for 3 hours and achieve what they would have in multiple days. It felt so rewarding to help this organization and we felt like we directly and indirectly made a positive impact on people’s lives. We made great connections with this organization and plan to go back in the spring to give the community members education on exercises when they come to pick up their food donation.
