What is the role of the SIJ in medicine and rehabilitation?
There is much debate in the literature regarding the biomechanics and functional role of the SIJ. This presentation will include an interactive discussion on the role of the SIJ in medicine and rehabilitation from an expert panel that includes physical therapists and physicians. Current literature and common clinical questions will be presented to the panel for discussion and the audience will be encouraged to participate.

Physiatry, Comprehensive Spine Center and Orthopedics at UConn Health; Assistant Professor Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Neurosurgery at UConn Health
Dr. Walker completed a fellowship in pain medicine at Harvard University. He specializes in the diagnosis and non-operative management of disorders of the neck and back, including epidural steroid and axial spine injections, acupuncture, and electrodiagnostic studies.

David specializes in the examination and treatment of individuals with lumbopelvic spine dysfunction, and his research interests include cadaveric dissection of sacroiliac joint.

Board-certified Orthopaedic Specialist; Fellow, American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists; Clinical instructor, University of Connecticut DPT program
Laurie specializes in areas of instruction focused on spine examination/intervention, and her clinical practice includes a focus on pelvic pain conditions.
